Pre-formatted in the FAT32 file system, this specialized card acts as a secure expansion storage medium for application user programs, system parameter backups, recipe modifications, data logs, and alarm history snapshots. Unlike consumer-grade memory cards, the HMC-SD491 uses high-end flash architecture designed for an elevated number of read/write cycles, ensuring stable performance amid continuous data-logging workloads on volatile factory floors. 
The memory module operates smoothly within industrial temperature margins from 0C to +55C and delivers rapid, high-speed data synchronization. It serves as a vital accessory across the Omron Sysmac Machine Automation platform. It is the required selection for newer hardware revisions of NJ-series CPU units (such as the NJ501 hardware revision A/unit version 1.15 or later) where the legacy 2 GB card is no longer supported. It is also fully compatible with Omron NA-series HMIs and specialized KM-series power monitors.
