It is based on the standard 6ES7515-2FN03-0AB0 CPU and features conformal coating, providing enhanced protection against environmental stresses. Siemens lists this model as an active SIPLUS product.

A key feature of this variant is its extended operating temperature range of -40C to +60C. The CPU provides 1.5 MB work memory for the program and 4.5 MB for data, with a fast 6 ns bit-performance. It incorporates two PROFINET interfaces: the first provides PROFINET IRT with an integrated 2-port switch, while the second supports PROFINET RT.

The CPU operates from a 24 V DC supply and supports fail-safe automation through PROFIsafe. A SIMATIC Memory Card is required for operation.
