Specially engineered by Rockwell Automation as an internal slot-mount option card, this safety component integrates seamlessly with PowerFlex 753 and PowerFlex 755 variable frequency drives (VFDs). It allows operators to safely drop rotational power to connected heavy motors without requiring full drive-power shutdown cycles, dramatically speeding up machine restart times after a safety demand is met.

Certified to the highest functional safety parametersincluding SIL 3 (IEC 61508) and Category 4 / Performance Level e (ISO 13849-1)the card processes standard 24V DC dual-channel dual-input signals over isolated pathways to ensure absolute diagnostic fault coverage. It features front-facing status indicator LEDs for instant visual loop confirmation and runs a nominal 5V DC internal logic draw from the host backplane (30 mA / 90 mA loading scales).

Critical Hardware Installation Rule: When inserting this card into your drive's control pod backplane (supported across dedicated options ports), you must physically remove the factory default safety jumper located on the drives main control PCB. However, the physical HW Enable jumper must remain left in place to allow the drive's internal firing circuits to properly interface with the new STO safety channels. This hardware-hardwired architecture eliminates intermediate interposing safety contactors, saving valuable sub-panel footprint while providing clean EMC-compliant isolation against electrical spikes.
